Had served in the militia - 3rd Batallion Berks. Regt. and he signed on for 12 years.

He was described as height 5th 7 1/2 ins, 135lbs, chest 35ins, dark compexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, C of E


He was discharged in 1897 having served 12 years
