Frederick was born in Camberley, Surrey abt 1878, 2nd youngest son of Sidney CUMNER & Miriam MATTHEWS.
On 6-Jun-1893 he enlisted in the Royal Artillery (#97655) [src: PRO WO364/889]. He was aged 14yrs 6mths, born Camberley, Surrey.
He served in the South African War between 1899 and 1902.
On 1-Nov-1904 he was promoted to Sergeant
On 16-Oct-1905 he married Harriet DAVIS in Yateley, Hampshire.
On 13-Dec-1919 he was discharged giving his address as 32 Richmond Hill, Luton.
He died 5-Jan-1945 in Luton Bedfordshire. His estate was valued at £637 and administration was given to his wife Harriett CUMNER.
